FACTS & FAQs
-
What is needed to start training?
To pursue training, you must be at least 16 years old, be able to read and write the English language, and hold at least a third class medical (we can help guide you on where to get this if you need it!)
-
I am ___ tall, will I fit okay in the plane?
If you are between 5'-6'3" you shouldn't have any problems fitting in our planes and seeing over the instrument panel. Some smaller pilots choose to bring a seat cushion (either to sit higher or more forward) to achieve an ideal sight-picture/view/reach.
-
How long does it take to complete the Private Pilot Certicate?
According to AOPA, most students will earn their license in 60-80 hours. We strive to beat this, but it largely depends on motivation and how much time you can dedicate to studying.
-
Can I bring a friend/family member/passenger flying?
Absolutely; talk to your instructor ahead of time to make sure the weight and balance is within limits.
-
Is ground school required?
The short answer is no. How much ground school you schedule is entirely up to you - some people learn better one-on-one with an instructor, others prefer self-study. Our instructors are well-equipped to teach you starting with the basics, and/or just answer questions you bring from independent study.
